Born on July 20th 1998 in Pocos de Caldas, Minas Gerais, is current T20 International player for Brazil, Renata Sousa.
Renata began playing in 2013 in the Social Projects designed by Cricket Brasil. A right-hand batter and right-arm seam bowler she caught the eyes of the selectors and was chosen to play for Brazil from 2014.
Part of the first year of the university programme, Renata graduated in 2018 and is the first Brazillian female coach to go to the Projects.
A debut in T20 Internationals, along with the entire Brazil team came in August 2018 against Mexico at Los Pinos Polo Club Ground, Bogota. It was the first of 24 T20Is Renata has played and she has certainly left a mark, opening both batting and bowling.
Her 336 career runs is the highest for Brazil and that comes with a high score of 55. Renata underlines her versatility as a player with 20 wickets at 13.25 and an economy a mere 3.40. Her best bowling of 3-5 came in the final of the South American Women’s Championships in August 2018 against Chile.
