Women’s Cricket Daily – 30 June 2026
Welcome to today’s women’s international cricket update featuring overnight results, today’s matches, breaking news and a look back through history.
News in brief
- All eyes on the Oval for tonight’s first semi finals between Australia and West Indies. This is a return to the final of 2016 where the West Indies defeated Australia to win the title. Head to head it doesn’t look so rosy for the West Indies with only two wins from nineteen matches against Australia.
- “We have nothing to lose. It puts us in a position where we have nothing to lose out there. We are really proud of what we have done. As a team, we have not been at our best but that means we can still get better.” West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews
- No injury concerns for either team. The Oval wicket has plenty of runs and the side winning the toss generally likes to chase.
- “They’ve got a lot of class and a lot of firepower within their team. Also a lot of experience, led brilliantly by Hayley Matthews, who’s a player that can take away the game pretty quickly. Luckily enough, we’ve played a series against them quite recently so we can do our homework in terms of how we’re going to approach a new venue, a fast venue, one that’s really nice to bat on.” – Ash Gardner
- Australia, India, South Africa and Great Britain – England – have qualified as four of the six teams for the LA Olympics through their performances in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
- This week’s quiz: Bowling Spell
- Player of the Tournament page nears the end. Orla Prendergast sits in top spot, after all the Pool matches have been played. We’ll continue during the finals, but if a stop were put to it now, Orla is the POTT.
- Shree Charani‘s 2-32 against Australia makes her the leading wicket taker for the tournament with 14.
- Danni Wyatt-Hodge is the leading run scorer with 282.
