News in brief
- Ireland defeated West Indies by 1 run (DLS) in a match shortened by rain. That is the first time Ireland has beaten the West Indies in a T20 International. The were on track to win before the rain came, in large part to skipper Orla Prendergast. (scores below.)
- One to watch for the World Cup: Ireland’s Ava Canning has been steadily taking top order wickets for Ireland in this Tri-nations series.
- England and India are due to play the third T20 International later today but the weather in Taunton isn’t looking too friendly. The series stands at 1-1 so both sides will be keen to pick up a series win going into the World Cup. Weather permitting…
- In Edinburgh later today Scotland take on Bangladesh in the Scotland Tri-series. Scotland have won both their games so far while Bangladesh are yet to win. These are important fixtures going into the World Cup.
- Australia and South Africa are playing three unofficial practice matches – SA won the first match by 7 runs. (scores below) Of note for the Australians, neither Ellyse Perry nor Phoebe Litchfield played. Neither Georgia Wareham nor Alana King bowled.
