Born on 26th May 1999 in Terang, Victoria, current Test, ODI and T20 International player for Australia, Georgia Lee Wareham.
“Wolfie”, as she is popularly known made her debut in T20 cricket for the Melbourne Renegades in the WBBL in 2015/16. The 16 year old leg-break bowler bowled took 0-10 from her only over. In that team plenty of spin bowlers to learn from. South Africa captain Dane van Niekirk, Sophie Molineaux, and Molly Strano. Georgia has played her entire WBBL career with the Renegades so far.
In 2017/18 Georgia was selected for Victoria in their 50 over team, and a year later selected for Australia in both white ball formats. She made her T20 International debut against New Zealand at North Sydney Oval in September 2018 and took the wicket of Jess Watkin. She made her ODI debut against Pakistan in Kuala Lumpur in October 2018 taking 2-22, including the wicket of captain Javeria Khan.
Still early days in Wolfie’s career, but she’s chalked up some pretty good stats. In 21 ODIs she has a batting average of 58.00, which is the same as her aggregate. There are few opportunities for the lower order in the Australian batting line-up. More importantly she has taken 24 wickets at 27.83 with a best of 2-18.
In 32 T20Is Georgia has taken 33 wickets at 13.78 runs per wicket at a strike rate of 14.20. Her best of 3-12 came against Pakistan in 2018. She has already featured in two T20I World Cups.
