Women’s Cricket Daily – 20 May 2026
Welcome to today’s women’s international cricket update featuring overnight results, today’s matches, breaking news and a look back through history.
News in brief
- The much awaited T20 International series between England and New Zealand gets underway today in Derby. Both teams are in the same group for the upcoming World Cup so this promises to be an important match up leading into the tournament. (Note for Asia/Pacific viewers, the match begins at 4.00AM tomorrow.)
- England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt will miss the series against the White Ferns and upcoming series against India due to what is being called a “minor calf injury”. That injury kept Sciver-Brunt out of the recent ODI series against New Zealand and the fact that keeps her absent for these two T20 series is quite concerning for the England camp. One can only speculate just how minor that injury is to one of the world’s premier allrounders.
- Also missing from the New Zealand series is Danni Wyatt-Hodge, awaiting the birth of her first baby. Other injury concerns with Mahika Gaur and Em Arlott too. Not the ideal situation for the England camp on the eve of a major tournament.
- Still a couple of squads to be announced for the World Cup. Squads named so far here.
