Born on 16th July 1977 in Welkom, Orange Free State, former Test and ODI player for South Africa, Sune Susanna Deborah van Zyl.
A right-hand batter and right-arm fast-medium bowler, Sune made her ODI debut against Australia in Buderim. Batting at number ten she was second top scorer with 12 after Denise Reid’s 48. Sune played a total of 18 ODIs which included the 2000 World Cup in New Zealand. With the ball her best figures were 4-17 against India at Potchefstroom in 2002.
A Test debut came in March 2002 against India at Paarl. It was one of two Tests Sune played, the other being against England in 2003 where she picked up her highest Test score of 37, batting at number nine.
