News in brief

  • A stirring win for Scotland over Bangladesh overnight. It’s the first time in seven games that the Wildcats have defeated the Tigresses. The home team are now two from two in the Scotland Tri-series. (Scores below) Later today Bangladesh and Netherlands face off as the series continues.
  • England kept the series alive 1-1 after defeating India by 26 runs in the second match. What would be of concern for both teams is the number of batters getting a start but not going on. This has been a particular issue for the home team of late.
  • Action continues in Ireland tonight in the Tri-Nations series. The home team takes on Pakistan. Both have been defeated by West Indies so tonight’s game is a chance for one of them to record a win.
  • The finals of the Asia Games Qualifiers are played today. Thailand and Malaysia are in the final, while Nepal takes on China in the battle for third place. Both matches are significant. The top three teams go through to the Asia Games.
  • Player of the Match yesterday between Malaysia and Nepal was Malaysia’s Elsa Hunter. In her score of 48, all but 2 runs came from boundaries. Yes, 46 of 48!
  • Australia and South Africa are preparing for the World Cup with three practice matches starting in Arundel from today.
