Born on July 25th 1983 in Wicklow is former Test, ODI and T20 International player for Ireland, Isobel Mary Helen Cecilia Joyce.
Isobel made her debut on the international stage at the age of just fifteen in and ODI against India at Campbell Park, Milton Keynes in Jun 1999. It was the first of her 79 matches in the format. The allrounder would go on to make 995 runs for Ireland, with a top score of 67 not out, one of four half centuries. Her left-arm slow bowling picked up 66 wickets which is the highest for Ireland. She also appeared in the 2000 ODI World Cup.
It was in 2000 that Isobel made her Test debut, the only Test match Ireland has played. Shaiza Khan’s Pakistan team toured in July of that year and it resulted in a comprehensive win for Ireland. Isobel did not bat, but her 6-21 in the second innings is the best for Ireland.
Isobel played in 55 T20 Internationals which included appearances in three World Cups. She scored 944 runs with a best of 56 not out while collecting 33 wickets with her bowling. A total of 135 international matches for Ireland, 62 as captain, while also featuring for the Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes in the WBBL.
