Born on 12th May 1959 in Medindie, South Australia, former player for the International XI in the 1981/82 World Cup, Lynley Hamilton (nee Ingerson).
A right hand batter and right-arm fast-medium bowler, Lynley played in junior rep teams before making her First Class debut for South Australia in 1980/81. Her limited overs debut for the state came in the following season and made such an impression she found herself selected to play for the International XI at the 1981/82 World Cup.
Lynley was in some good company in this team captained by England’s Lynne Thomas. It included fellow Aussies Rhonda Kendall and Jen Owens, along with England’s Gill McConway and other players from across the globe. It was a truly international team, building on the success of the original team put together for the 1973 World Cup. Playing in all nine of the matches played by the team in 1981/82, Lynley had a top score of 29 not out against India at Christchurch and best bowling of 2-29 against New Zealand at Dunedin.
Lynley finished her career with South Australia in 1982/83, a short and sweet career that included a World Cup.
