Sri Lanka Breaks 23 Year Drought
When they went 2-0 up, Sri Lanka clinched their first ODI series win against West Indies in 23 years, breaking a drought which has existed since 2003 when they were victorious 6-0. With the West Indies taking the final game here in 2026, the series ended 2-1 in favour of the visitors.
First ODI
In a close encounter at Grenada, Sri Lanka managed to defend a total of 240/6, defeating West Indies by 10 runs. Sri Lanka’s Inoka Ranaweera took 4-44 to seal the win and was named Player of the Match.

Second ODI
Sri Lanka made it two from two in Grenada defending another small total, triumphing by 14 runs over the home team. The match was most notable by the controversial dismissal of Deandra Dottin, out obstructing the field. While the decision was 100% correct, it did seem harsh as Dottin was neither preventing a catch or a runout. Note to batters: the ball is not yours to touch!
For her top score of 58, Vishmi Gunaratne was named Player of the Match.

Third ODI
Yet another small total posted by Sri Lanka who batted first for the third time in the series but this time West Indies managed to overcome, courtesy of a century to skipper Hayley Matthews backed by former skipper Stafani Taylor playing an anchoring role.
It left the series with a 2-1 result in favour of the visitors. Hayley Matthews was named Player of the Match while Harshitha Madavi was named Player of the series.
