Shashikala Siriwardene

Born on 14th February 1985 in Colombo, is former ODI and T20 International player for Sri Lanka, Shashikala Siriwardene.

A right hand batter and right-arm off break bowler, Shashikala made her ODI debut for Sri Lanka in March 2003 in Kingstown against West Indies. She scored 29 and took 2-20 in a match that saw Sri Lanka as victors by 27 runs. It was the start of a career spanning 118 matches which included four World Cup tournaments: 2005, 2009, 2013 and 2017.

During her ODI career Shashikala scored 2029 runs, the first Sri Lanka player to pass 2000 runs. With her 124 wickets she is also the highest wicket taker and only player to have taken 100 wickets for Sri Lanka. Her best of 4-11 was against Pakistan in December 2005.

Shashikala’s T20 International debut came in 2010, also against the West Indies but this time resulting in a loss. Her first wicket in this format was Deandra Dottin. In this format she played 81 matches and her 1097 runs is second only to Chamari Athapaththu for Sri Lanka. Her 77 wickets is the most and has the best figures (4-9) for Sri Lanka. She represented Sri Lanka in five T20 World Cups and her final international match was in Australia at the World Cup in 2020.
