Born on September 24th 1992 in Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistani all-rounder Aliya Riaz has scored over 1000 international runs.
Aliya started playing cricket for her home-team, Rawalpindi but it was her performance for Lahore in domestic cricket which caught the selectors’ eyes. She got the green cap at the age of 22 when she was selected to tour Australia. Aliya made her T20 debut on 23rd August 2014 and later that month, she also played her first ODI.
Aliya was called for bigger honors in 2018 as she was selected for T20I World Cup. Although Pakistan’s campaign in the big event wasn’t much memorable, the tournament remains a highlight of Aliya’s career. She was the top wicket taker for Pakistan in that World Cup.
To September 2021, Aliya has starred in 48 T20I and 33 ODIs. Aliya is also one of those many cricketers who hasn’t had a taste of Test cricket due to modern day reforms. In T20I, Aliya is a handy all-rounder, with 589 runs and 17 wickets. The icing on the cake her 17 dismissals in the field.
She has overall scored more than 1000 runs including 3 half-centuries. All this, along with her International and Domestic cricket experience, paved her way to be the choice for captain after the injury of skipper, Javeria Khan. Aliya is currently featuring in Domestic T20 tournament wearing PCB Blasters’ jersey.
