Vera Burt

Vera Burt played three Test matches for New Zealand over 21 years. Her debut was against Australia in 1947/8. Her second Test was against England at home in 1948/9 then nothing again until 1968/9.

Vera was a right hand batter and left arm slow bowler. She played First Class cricket from 1944/5 to 1970/1, both for Auckland and North Shore.

Vera’s other career was with hockey, representing New Zealand in that sport in 1960 when they played Australia. She was also an international umpire, coach and administrator.

Awarded MBE in 1990 for services to sport and community, Vera passed away in 2017.
