The leg-break bowler has only played the one Test (2014 India vs South Africa) but has been a feature of India’s white ball game since 2012. Her 4-19 against Australia in the opening match of the 2020 T20 World Cup set that event alight. It was the fourth T20 World Cup in which she has played.
After 72 T20Is Poonam is now the highest all time wicket taker for India (98) and currently equal 9th on the global list with Stafanie Taylor. Those wickets have come at the incredible average of just 15.25 runs per wicket. She has a best of 4-9 against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup Final at Kuala Lumpur in 2018.
In 58 ODIs Poonam has taken 80 wickets at 25.15 with a best of 4-13 against Sri Lanka at Visakhapatnam in 2014.
