Anjali Pendharker

Born on July 7th 1959 in Bhir, Maharashtra, former Test and ODI player for India, Anjali Pendharker made her debut in a World Cup.

Anjali made her ODI debut for India when she stepped on to Eden Park No 2, Auckland to play Australia on January 10 1982. The opposition scored 227 from their 55 overs and India in reply bowled out for 74. Top score? Anjali Pendharker with 18 runs batting at number four in her debut.

In nineteen ODI matches Anjalis made 268 runs with a top score of 47 against Australia at Christchurch in February 1982.

Anjali’s Test debut came in 1983/84 in the team led by Shantha Rangaswamy against the visiting Australians under captain Jill Kennare. She would play in all four Tests of the series and scored a half century at Ahmedabad in the third Test. Against the visiting New Zealanders in 1984/85, Anjali made her highest score in Tests of 81.

In her five Tests Anjali scored 218 runs at 27.25 with two half centuries. With her off-breaks she took just the one wicket, but it was a pretty good one, New Zealand skipper, Debbie Hockley.
