Helene Hegarty is a former opening bowler for England, bowling right-arm fast medium, playing seven Tests from 1954 to 1963.
Born on16 June 1931 in Paddington, Middlesex, Helene made her debut for Riverside in 1948 and her First Class debut in 1952. When New Zealand toured England in 1954 she made her Test debut at Headingley taking 1-10 in the first innings and 3-30 in the second, including that of New Zealand captain Rona McKenzie.
Helene toured Australia and New Zealand in 1957/58 and made her final Test appearance at the Oval against Australia in 1963. She took 21 wickets at 21.46 and her best figures of 5-48 came against New Zealand at the Oval in 1954.
