Born on day, 24th July 1956 in Carlton Melbourne Victoria, is former Test and ODI player for Australia, Janette Ruth Tredrea.
Jan was the second of the Tredrea sisters to play for Australia. While her sister Sharon was a successful fast bowler, Jan let her bat do the talking. She made her debut for Victoria in 1974/75 and the following year was selected to play for Australia.
Jan made her Test debut at Jarrett Park, Montego Bay in May 1976. She batted at number three and scored 15 runs in the only innings in which Australia batted. A single innings in the second Test saw Jan score 43.
The Australian team then continued their tour, travelling to England and Jan played in three more Test matches to give her a total of five for her career. Her batting high point was at Old Trafford where she top scored for the Aussies with 67 in the first Test. She scored 210 runs in total at 30.00.
Jan’s ODI career has a couple of interesting highlights. She made her ODI debut on that 1976 England tour and the second match of that series was the first time women played a cricket match at Lords.
In India for the World Cup in 1977/78, Jan made her highest ODI score of 37 not out, with Marg Jennings at the other end in the final game of the tournament. Australia had just won their first World Cup.
