World Cup Final 2024

New Zealand and South Africa played the T20 World Cup final on 20th October 2024 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This was the ninth edition of the tournament and the final offered both teams the chance to win the trophy for the first time.

South Africa made it to the final by defeating Australia by 8 wickets, while New Zealand defeated West Indies by 8 runs.

Laura Wolvaardt won the toss for the Proteas and sent the White Ferns in to bat. It was a modest total of 158/5 with Melie Kerr top scoring with 43, but that old adage, “runs on the board in a final” tends to ring true.

South Africa managed just 129/9 in reply with the skipper top scoring with 33. Melie Kerr’s 3-24, combined with her batting effort saw her receive Player of the Match.

New Zealand won their first T20 World Cup on this day.
