T20 World Cup Final 2020

The World Cup of 2020 was held in Australia and culminated in the biggest crowd to ever watch a women’s cricket match when the final was held at the MCG on March 8th, International Women’s Day.

The crowd of 86,000 saw Meg Lanning win the toss and bat first against against Harmanpreet Kaur’s Indian team.
The bowlers for the Women in Blue were pummeled by the Aussie openers. Ever one for a big game, Alyssa Healy was relentless, scoring 75 from 39 balls, including five sixes. At the other end, Beth Mooney scored a “sedate” 78 not out from 54 balls in partnership of 115.

The Aussies ended with a formidable 184/4. The Indian campaign never really took off, especially after Megan Schutt dismissed Shafali Verma in the third ball of the innings. They were all out for 99.

Healy’s rampaging innings earned her Player of the Match, with Australia collecting their fifth trophy.
