On 6th April 2014, Australia and England battled out the final of the World T20 2014 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Bangladesh.
Australia’s Meg Lanning won the toss and send England in to bat. The Aussie bowlers restricted England to just 8/105 after the twenty overs. Top score was Heather Knight with 29, while Sarah Coyte (3-16) and Ellyse Perry (2-13) starred with the ball.
Led by the skipper with 44 and Perry with 31 not out, Australia passed the England total in the 16th over to win by four wickets. Sarah Coyte was named Player of the Match, while England’s Anya Shrubsole was named Player of the Tournament.
Having won the previous two World Cups, this was a third successive victory for the Australians.
