Women’s Cricket Daily – 5 May 2026

Welcome to today’s women’s international cricket update featuring overnight results, today’s matches, breaking news and a look back through history.

News in brief

  • Pakistan inflicted a 168 run defeat on Zimbabwe in the first match of the ODI series in Karachi. Their total of 330/5 is their highest in ODIs, easily eclipsing their 280/7 against Ireland in 2013. The 98 scored by POTM Sadaf Shamas is her highest score in ODIs. Opening partner Gull Feroza also achieved her highest score in the format with an even fifty, her first half century in ODIs. Their opening stand of 162 runs is the second highest for Pakistan.
  • TAWC T20 Rankings have been updated following the Bangladesh/Sri Lanka series. The rolling data over four years has seen May 2022 results deleted.
  • The TAWC ODI Rankings have also been updated, again with May 2022 results removed. One glaring anomoly is the position of Zimbabwe, still in the top ten. A number of contributing factors for this – notably their excellent start in the first two years of data. Their recent form is certainly not that of a top ten team and in the coming months that is likely to correct itself.
  • A reminder, the Hong Kong Tri-Series begins this Thursday in Mong Kok. Competing with the home team are Malaysia and China.
