News in brief

World Cup action continues with Scotland v Sri Lanka. This is the last opportunity for Sri Lanka to make the finals, albeit slim. Scotland have posted a solid 151/6. The match continues. UPDATE: Sri Lanka win by 3 wickets, however the win was not big enough to improve their NRR in order to make the finals. Both Scotland and Sri Lanka have completed their tournament.
Scotland’s Darcey Carter is the first player to pass 200 runs in the tournament.
Three key games in the World Cup later today: Netherlands v Pakistan – one of those teams will get their first victory of the tournament. (Weather permitting!)
Ireland v West Indies is a crucial one for the Windies. A win here almost guarantees them a finals spot. The Ireland team spirits will no doubt be buoyed by their men’s team defeating India for the first time.
And then there’s England v New Zealand. England are already through. New Zealand must win this game handsomely to be in the running for the finals.
