Women’s Cricket Daily – 22 May 2026
Welcome to today’s women’s international cricket update featuring overnight results, today’s matches, breaking news and a look back through history.
News in brief
- More injury woes plaguing teams heading into the World Cup. It’s Ireland’s turn now as skipper Gaby Lewis pulls out of the tri-series against West Indies and Pakistan with a leg injury. Orla Prendergast will lead the side in her absence in the series which gets underway on Thursday.
- England might be looking at a potential selection dilemma after Alice Capsey‘s Player of the Match performance against New Zealand in the first T20 International. Capsey thrived in the opener’s spot in the absence of Danni Wyatt-Hodge. If she continues this form does England reconsider their opening options for the World Cup?
- A low scoring affair between Malaysia and Nepal in their first of two T20 Internationals. These matches are effectively warm-ups for the Asia Games Qualifiers starting on Monday. Only three double digit scores from combined batting from both teams, with extras (15) top scoring for Malaysia.
- History made in 1937 with Australia’s brief stopover in the Netherlands on this day in 1937 prior to their Test series against England.
