News in brief

  • Hong Kong defeated Malaysia in the final to take out the Hong Kong Tri Series, winning by a comfortable 28 runs. Once again it was the top order of skipper Natasha Miles and Yas Daswani who paved the way for victory, the latter being named Player of the Match. Player of the series was Hong Kong’s Kary Chan.
  • The T20 International series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe commences later today. The home side won the ODI series 3-0. The Lady Chevrons will be looking for a much improved performance in this format, while Pakistan will be keen to tune up before the World Cup next month.
  • In other World Cup news, mystery surrounds Cricket South Africa’s decision to postpone their  World Cup squad announcement, minutes before it was due to go live, “due to a need for further internal reviews. A new squad announcement date will be shared in due course.”
