Match 21: Australia v Pakistan

Australia into the Semi Finals

With their fourth win from as many games, Australia brushed aside Pakistan to book a spot in the semi finals of the 2026 T20 International World Cup.

This was always going to be a one-sided affair and neither side disappointed in that regard. Australia will be feeling a little miffed at falling short of the 200 mark after electing to bat first, but 199/7 is fairly close. 100 would have been enough.

Australia lost Beth Mooney early, but that simply brought together Ellyse Perry (71) and Georgia Voll (39) who both carved an entertaining 100 run partnership. Loss of wickets does not halt Australia’s surge when batting and while they would have wanted a few more runs, the total was more than enough.

Muneeba Ali stood up for Pakistan, but had little support as Sophie Molineux (2-6) Ellyse Perry (2-9) and Annabel Sutherland (2-12) destroyed the Pakistan batting to have them all out for 86, short by 113 runs. Ellyse Perry was named Player of the Match.

Pakistan have one final match, against the Netherlands. It offers an opportunity for redemption after what has been a horror World Cup for the Women in Green, from a win/loss perspective.

For Australia, they are finals bound. It is unlikely they will finish anything but top of the ladder in Pool A, but their place in the finals is assured, regardless of the outcome of the final pool matches.
