Match 15: Bangladesh v Pakistan

Bangladesh Keep Finals Hopes Alive

The Tigresses picked up an important two points from this match while Pakistan remain pointless after three matches and thus, their hopes of a finals spot are over. Bangladesh remain in contention.

It was the second match of the day at the Rose Bowl and it followed a total score of 340 runs in the prior match between Australia and Netherlands. Surely the runs would continue to flow. Not to be.

Nigar Sultana won the toss for Bangladesh and chose to bat first. She was among the highest run scorers with 36, but it was a slow and laboured team score of just 123/6, the highlight being the fast finishing of Shorna Akter (39*).

Pakistan were 49/0 in the chase before they lost Gull Feroza (23). From then it was an insipid batting performance which saw Pakistan grab defeat from the jaws of victory, finishing 100/8 after their 20 overs. Nahida Akter and Sanjida Akter both picked up three wickets. Muneeba Ali top scored with 25.

Shorna Akter was named Player of the Match for her batting performance. Bangladesh picked up an unlikely 2 points which keeps them in the hunt for a finals spot.
